“Cape Cod” wedding at the Del in San Diego – Jill and Luke

I just love the fresh, preppy feeling of this wedding. From the little wood church to the navy sport coats. This wedding has such an east coast feel to me. Navy and green always does that to me.

Thanks to Jill and Luke’s great wedding team this beautiful wedding was a joy to photograph. Victoria at Coronado Weddings was the coordinator, she definitely kept us all on schedule. The talented Kathy Wright did an amazing job with the flowers. Concepts Event Design of course brought in the furniture for the guests to enjoy and lounge around on. As always the Hotel Del brought the stunning backdrop and impeccable service to tie everything together.

Magical Wedding at the Prado Balboa Park – Emily & Rodrigo

I love it when a couple has been together since high school but waited a while to finally tie the knot. Because of their long histories together they share (most) of the same group of friends and the stories told at the toasts are always about “back in the day.” Emily and Rodrigo were right there with the best of the high-school romances I’ve had the pleasure to photograph. And it is so awesome how much they are still all over each other.

Wedding at the Grand Del Mar – Julia and Pete

Julia and Pete fell in love with the Grand and each other while on vacation in San Diego. When they decided to get married they knew right away THIS was the place for their event. They both travel often, in fact they met on a plane, so the subtle theme of the wedding was travel. You’ll see the beat-up suitcase as a grooms cake, the luggage tags and not shown, the favors to their guests were ipod-shuffles.

Pink, Pink, Pink Wedding Photography at Rancho Valencia – Danielle & Nathan

I know Rancho Valencia sets up a party tent on the tennis court all the time, but it was the first time I’ve seen it in person and WOW, it was amazing! Because of the way viewing is set up for a tennis match, the tent gets a very regal position and really pops.

Danielle and Nathan live in New York and have a very urban lifestyle. As much as the couple really loved Rancho Valencia, they also wanted some images that reflected their more urban tastes so we took to the streets. I love wandering down alleys for great light and locations. A happy photographer makes happy images!

Thanks to all for all your hard work in creating this beautiful event. Just goes to show that with great vendors a destination wedding can come together perfectly!

Purple and Chartreuse Wedding at The Santa Luz Club – Lindsay & Barry

Lindsay and Barry had me come up for a visit earlier this year to San Francisco to shoot their engagement photos. We had a great time wandering around the Ferry Building, out on the pier and around downtown. We had a great time and I knew they would bring their great vibe to their wedding day. I’ve definitely been looking forward to this one all year.

Purple and chartreuse ruled the reception. The best idea (to this sweet tooth) were the individual berry pies and ice cream bar that matched perfectly with the decor and were the replacement for cake. I wish I could have tasted one, but I’m sure I can order one from Michele Coulon sometime. Now that berries are in season today would probably be a good time, oh yes!

Thanks everyone for such a fun and detail filled event. Great light and lots to photograph is a photographer’s dream! Mary, you rock!

Wedding on the water at Paradise Point – Anasa & Jordan

Anasa was so calm and cool, I was pretty amazed at her demeanor when I arrived at Paradise Point. I don’t typically get crazy bride-zilla types, but people are usually a little on the nervous side. If Anasa was worked up I sure couldn’t tell.

Wedding at Founders Chapel and the Darlington House – Laura & Chris

Loving this 40’s inspired daytime wedding!

You all might remember meeting Laura and Chris at their engagement session a few months ago.

During our wedding planning I asked Laura & Chris what they were most looking forward to on their wedding day. I loved their response so I wanted to share it here:

Laura:
Well… I am looking forward to wearing my dress… and I am looking forward to when the day is over and Chris and I are finally alone and can take a walk down to the beach together… alone. I know it will be a really nice, and fast, day and I am looking forward to everything… except walking down the aisle and having everyone stare at me…ugh. We should ask Chris this question- he is the sappy one.

Chris:
Well there is so much there, but I am most looking forward to watching Laura appear at the end of the aisle as a silhouette emerging through the doors so I can see how beautiful she will look. I have a feeling I am going to be an emotional wreck. I am definitely a cry baby and pretty emotional. But I would also say that I can’t wait until it is all over and I can just spend time with the person I love more than anything…. Laura.
I also asked Laura and Chris where they were going for their honeymoon and what they were looking forward to and here were their responses (so cute!):

Laura:
We will be going to Paris for our honeymoon. We will be leaving the morning after Christmas and will stay in Paris for 8 nights and for New Year’s Eve. We are staying in a small boutique hotel in the Saint Germaine area and plan to just relax- maybe take a day trip to Champagne or Versailles- otherwise walk the streets in the cold and eat chocolate croissants.

Chris:
As Laura stated above we will be going to Paris, France the day after Christmas and through New Years. I am so excited. I am looking forward pretty much everything…. eating, sleeping in, but really I can’t wait to just spend time with Laura. I would say that I a most looking forward to watching the fireworks at the Eiffel Tower hugging Laura in the cold.
