Now I don’t usually blog this many photos from weddings. I shoot so many things I can’t even blog all of them and I certainly could never keep up if I did this every time. Of course every so often a wedding comes along that I just love and I go a little nuts with it. This is one of those.
First, I loved Laura and Eli. They are so quirky and don’t care that I show all their expressions (not just the pretty ones) and as a photographer that is the best. I love being able to show real personalities and that includes all the funny faces. Second, I am swooning over the location…. the courtyard at La Valencia is just stunning at sunset when the string-lights are glowing and the sky is cobalt blue.
This was a destination wedding for the entire group. Some of you may recall Laura & Eli’s engagement shoot we did in New York a while back. And La Valencia was the perfect location for all the family and friends to converge and take over the intimate property.
Big thanks to the fabulous coordinator, Diane Kern. She is a darling to work with and everything is always perfect!
The Bride’s-men…

Generally I’m not a big fan of jumping shots, but I gotta say I like this one.

The Bride had some Texas Longhorn fans in the family, ha!

As promised, a few more images from Kelly’s & Raj’s wedding day. It isn’t often that I’m given 3 hours to just play with the bride and groom. Typically I get about 30 minutes (squeezed between family photos & the reception) so it was a lot of fun to not have to keep an eye on the time.

My husband wanted them to jump off a ledge, which they did, my angle made for a crazy looking shot…

I love how Raj is looking at Kelly… he loves her… so sweet….

You’ve got to love a little wind. I mean really, what can you do if it is super windy and it’s time to get photos done? Sure you could hide inside, but that is so safe and boring… I love how Penni, Jeff and the family embraced the weather and just had a great time.
This simple, week-day wedding was actually a “ring ceremony” since they were already married. We did a portrait session in La Jolla Cove first then headed up to Tapenade for the ceremony and reception with close friends and family.

You can’t beat spending time at gorgeous Ponte Winery on a beautifully mild day with a view of snow capped mountains in the distance. Amazing. Julie was a joy to photograph and Heath (and his boys) were so much fun to be around. Heath will probably hate me to tell you, be he plays for the Minnesota Vikings, and because of this they will be moving from lovely San Diego to the Midwest. Well Julie, at least you get to go shopping for some cute coats right?
Don’t feel too bad for them, they got a great honeymoon in the Cayman Islands before leaving for the cold!
Flowers: Kathy Wright & Co
Dress: Alvina Valenta

Getting out to Ponte just makes me want to visit Napa and Sonoma… why is that?

I love couples like Kim and Mat. They were relaxed and up for anything. Their wedding took place on the lawn at the San Diego Administration Building down at the harbor and the reception took place on the rooftop of the St. James hotel downtown. If you are are ever downtown looking for something to do, the roof top is worth a hike up there for the view!!! We also made a quick stop in Balboa park for some fun portraits.

Two weeks ago the temperatures were reaching 90 degrees around my house in San Diego. It could have been a really hot day except for the fact that I was out with Teresa and Andrew celebrating their wedding in the middle of San Diego Bay! I’ll admit, some days I get lucky! Lucky also because of how wonderful both the Bride and Groom and their whole party were. So nice to spend the day with such wonderful people.

Yes Montana! We flew off to beautiful Glacier National Park for this amazing, low-key, fun and down and dirty wedding. Set in an open field surrounded by amazing mountains and the biggest sky on earth, it was breathtaking to say the least.
After driving down a dirt road for 30 minutes we arrived at our destination. Complete with a real outhouse!

The inside of the general store (yummy cookies!) and the general decor.

A ceremony amidst the pines

The Band.

Kristin has been taking banjo lessons since November and gave her first ever on stage performance towards the end of the day. It is about 9:30 and still light out!

Finally people started pitching tents to camp for the night.

Marliese and Tom wanted a wedding that was a bit out of the ordinary. Instead of a church they chose a beautiful cliff at the edge of Torrey Pines State Park and instead of a regular hotel ballroom they chose to have a basement concert at the House of Blues in Downtown San Diego. Bananas Foster instead of wedding cake! (Check out the girls trying to eat giant chocolate dipped strawberries and not get any on themselves.)

I’d love to tell you all about this beautiful wedding I did last weekend at the Hyatt Aventine.. but alas, I can’t. My clients have jobs where their identity needs to be kept private. I can show you a few cute details and a wonderful shot of Grandpa but that is about it.

I’ve decided to showcase a favorite vendor every so often here on the blog. All types are fair game as there are many talented people here in San Diego that I work with every week. Picking a really talented and reliable person for your event is the key to having a relaxing and flawless day. Anything I can do to help your day go perfectly I’m all over! Today we will start with a florist.
Adrianne Smith Floral Design is getting the shout out this week. Besides being the nicest, most thoughtful and wonderful person ever, she is also an amazing designer! Her flowers are truly stunning… very earthy & organic (but not a hint of granola). She always seems to go the extra mile for her clients, all I ever hear are raves. (She’s also a bit of a steal)
Here are a few images I did for her Holiday card… looks like Tuscany or something!
