Wedding at Founders Chapel and the Darlington House – Laura & Chris

Loving this 40’s inspired daytime wedding!

You all might remember meeting Laura and Chris at their engagement session a few months ago.

During our wedding planning I asked Laura & Chris what they were most looking forward to on their wedding day. I loved their response so I wanted to share it here:

Laura:
Well… I am looking forward to wearing my dress… and I am looking forward to when the day is over and Chris and I are finally alone and can take a walk down to the beach together… alone. I know it will be a really nice, and fast, day and I am looking forward to everything… except walking down the aisle and having everyone stare at me…ugh. We should ask Chris this question- he is the sappy one.

Chris:
Well there is so much there, but I am most looking forward to watching Laura appear at the end of the aisle as a silhouette emerging through the doors so I can see how beautiful she will look. I have a feeling I am going to be an emotional wreck. I am definitely a cry baby and pretty emotional. But I would also say that I can’t wait until it is all over and I can just spend time with the person I love more than anything…. Laura.
I also asked Laura and Chris where they were going for their honeymoon and what they were looking forward to and here were their responses (so cute!):

Laura:
We will be going to Paris for our honeymoon. We will be leaving the morning after Christmas and will stay in Paris for 8 nights and for New Year’s Eve. We are staying in a small boutique hotel in the Saint Germaine area and plan to just relax- maybe take a day trip to Champagne or Versailles- otherwise walk the streets in the cold and eat chocolate croissants.

Chris:
As Laura stated above we will be going to Paris, France the day after Christmas and through New Years. I am so excited. I am looking forward pretty much everything…. eating, sleeping in, but really I can’t wait to just spend time with Laura. I would say that I a most looking forward to watching the fireworks at the Eiffel Tower hugging Laura in the cold.

Wedding blowout at the Hard Rock San Diego – Daniella & Alex

Daniella and Alex know how to party… and so do all 500 of their friends! This was an amazing, big, fun sexy party and everyone had a blast.

Daniella works with Botanica, one of San Diego’s most beautiful purveyors of modern floral decor. Well they pulled out all the stops for this wedding, I think they must have emptied their entire warehouse to fill up the giant ballroom at the Hard Rock.

Daniella and Alex honeymooned in Thailand, can’t wait to hear about their trip!

Stunning Turquoise Wedding at Paradise Point – Courtney & Brett

A while back I posted an editorial shoot I did for Bride & Bloom Magazine. You can see that feature here: Bride & Bloom. The feature was about Courtney & Brett’s journey in finding the right florist for the look they had in mind for their reception decor. After three different set ups they chose LaVonne at Adorations to fulfill their vision of their big day.

So today I’m happy to be featuring the REAL wedding (and design) based on that preview from December. Big thanks to Kelly Aull at Mint Weddings for all her fabulousness!

Yes, that is a baby Bass in that centerpiece! The whole cocktail theme centered around Brett’s love for hunting and fishing, complete with live fish.

I discovered a new (to me) fun wedding blog to draw inspiration from. The Snippet & Ink blog came to my attention because she used one of my images in her recent post. Bride & Bloom Magazine

December is crazy on the inside here at the studio. You would never know it from reading the blog. You don’t see a ton of posts from me this time of year because there is just too much work to be done to ensure everyone gets what they need for the holidays.

I do feel a bit guilty, however, about not posting anything for a while, so I thought I’d share with you a recent magazine feature with Bride & Bloom I shot that came out a month or so ago. I should have posted it sooner but better late than never.

The premise of this shoot was not only to show wedding decor, but to challenge three floral designers to please one couple. They were given the wedding “colors” and each designer showcased a different option for the couple.

The designers are creating all this for a real couple; clients of Kelly Aull of Mint Weddings. Maybe she will make a comment below about who her client decided to go with. Kelly?

Wedding Toasts

I’ve been asked a lot about what makes a great toast. I always like to say keeping it short and sweet is best. Never mention ex’s and make sure to include both the bride and groom in what you are saying.

07.28.07 | Amanda & George – Hotel Del Coronado

Another beautiful day at the beach at the Del, what more could I ask for? Amanda wanted a “Black & White” wedding and she got it. The decor was perfect thanks to Adrianne Smith Floral Design and of course the event went without a hitch thanks to the fabulous Susanne Duffy of Crown Weddings. I also really loved the bridesmaid dresses from J.Crew, they were easy and comfortable and made everyone look great!

06.08.07 – The Rockhouse – Jamaica

I’m still working on Toni & Matt’s wedding images so for a quick teaser I’ll post a few images of the wedding venue. I’ve been dying to go to this place since I saw it in 2004 and was not disappointed. Most of the lodging here is in the form of “villas” perched on the edge of a cliff above turquoise water that is perfect for snorkeling. Many villas have private access to the ocean as well as lounging areas. Rockhouse is a stunning place and I can’t wait to go back!
